SK Mahajan
President - Coal Services & Company Secretary
Mr. Mahajan completed his undergraduate degree from SD College in Punjab, and then went on to pursue a post-graduate MSc (Hons.) degree in Physics from Punjab University.

His professional life began in the academic world as Head of the Physics Department of SD College, but he decided instead to join the Thapar Group in 1965. He received his initial training in the coalfields of Dhandbad, Jharia, Asansol, Bhowra and Ramgarh, and then shifted to Head Office, Calcutta, where he worked in the Produce Exchange Department, which dealt with starch and paper sales.

After gaining some experience with the Internal Audit and Accounts Departments, he began to oversee the operational aspects of the branches, particularly the marketing of paper and coal. Eventually, he was designated as In-Charge of the Branches Department, charged with the responsibility of managing the entire network of KCT branches across India. Having spent many years in the business of coal handling, Mr. Mahajan is a well-known figure in the industry. He was also appointed as member of the Railway Users Consultative Committees by the Ministry of Railways.

Mr. Mahajan is an accomplished golfer. Some of his other interests include reading, watching Indian film and listening to music.



VK Arora

Mr. Arora graduated with a degree in mining engineering from the Indian School of Mines University (ISMU), Dhanbad, in 1961.

Shortly thereafter, he began his career with the Thapar Group, and held several important posts in coal mines belonging to the group. After nationalization of the mines, he worked with Eastern Coalfields Ltd. (ECL) for a short period. However, he re-joined KCT, and was given the responsibility of managing the coal handling operations of the company, and overseeing the mining equipment manufacturing unit, Bharat Westfalia.

Mr. Arora is a well respected figure in the Indian mining and coal handling industry. With many of years of experience behind him, Mr. Arora is today considered an authority on the subject of coal. He has represented the coal industry's views regarding coal marketing policies before various government forums and committees.

Mr. Arora is an avid sportsman, and regularly plays both tennis and golf.
